Murphy NC 28906 - A growing community with small town charm

Years ago, I started my online marketing career by selling arts and crafts made by myself and other talented people I know. That's why you see me holding one of my steel roses that never wilt in my photograph. I continue to use that photo because I met so many people online who now immediately recognize it.

Although I no longer am able to continue being an artist blacksmith, I still love original, handmade items and I also know the intricacies of online marketing. That's why this press release about AmericaCreates.com caught my eye.

Locally, I helped to start Appalachian Heritage Crafters and was their first president. It feels like about a million years ago. This local arts and crafts cooperative helps people in the Murphy, NC, area market their handmade art through their store, which is located in a small log cabin a couple of miles west of Murphy, on Hwy 64.

(I am no longer connected with Appalachian Heritage Crafters, so if you want more information about them, you'll need to contact them directly.)

Now, AmericaCreates.com is offering services to quality artists and crafters. I have not read their terms nor have I looked to see if they let you join for free and then charge a fee for their services. I'm linking to both their press release and their website.

If you're looking to sell or buy quality arts and crafts, you may want to visit their site and see for yourself.

The following paragraph is excerpted from the press release on PRWeb:

The new venture, AmericaCreates.com, AmericaCreates.com, offers electronic storefronts for independent artists while also inviting consumers to explore the artist experience and learn about upcoming creative events and associations in their communities. In addition to selling excellent quality American artwork and fine crafts, America Creates includes easy-to-search databases making it possible for visitors to simply find local exhibitions, classes, artist cooperatives, art schools, guilds and gallery openings, and learn more about specific art techniques.

Later in the press-release, it says, "U.S.-based artists and fine craftspeople - along with guilds, co-ops, art schools, community art centers, museums and galleries- are invited to join the community at no charge."

Sharon Sinclair, one of the founders, says, "We understand the difficulty many artists experience in marketing their own merchandise. The energy it takes to do this well often leaves little time for their craft. Many have little budget or time to create a Web presence, yet consumers are in search of one-of-a-kind objects with a personal story. America Creates was designed to bring people together and help creativity flourish."
