I have been married for 18 years and have 3 great kids; 2 of which I homeschool. My 18 year old has already graduated and has started her own photography business which I am involved with ~ It's a joint effort. We have fun with it and it's great to be making money at something you really enjoy doing.

Hey how is it up there Dena?

Yes, like an idiot, got up at 3 this morning and went to Wally World. But we found everything we went after so it was worth it. Then came home at 7 and went back to bed. Just now starting to move.

I'm all nice and cozy and warm in front of a fireplace in a cabin on top of a mountain! "Thank you Carol!!" So, no shopping for me! But I do believe wander on down to Cades Cove this afternoon and see what we can see! ;)

Good morning, Murphy! I'm starting my day with a cup of double-rich hot chocolate and the warmth of the cup feels good to my chilly fingers! So, today is black Friday. Are you out shopping before dawn or snuggled warmly in your bed? No shoppin...

Relay For Life Performance

I just had to post this on here. Our youth group from church had the chance to perform this black light skit for the folks over at Relay For Life in Blue Ridge, GA. It was awesome, as you'll see when you watch it!

Country Girl Went To The City!!

Well, this country girl got a chance to visit the Big Apple, NYC! I had a blast. We were able to stay for a week and I saw the usual tourist sites. I got to see the Statue of Liberty, went to the Top of the Rock, Empire State Bldg., and last but def. not least, Central Park - It was gorgeous. I don't know why we waited until the last day to go there. Had I went there on day 1 I don't think I would have spent time anywhere else. There was so much to see and do there. I'll be posting some pics fro… Continue

God's Country

I'm enrolled in a photography class and never thought I liked taking landscape pictures. Well, last week the assignment was none other than landscape pictures and I discovered I kind of like it. It gives you a whole new way of looking at the world. To think that a portion of this big beautiful world can be contained in the lense of a camera and duplicated for everyone to see is nothing short of amazing to me. Anyway - enough about all of that - I want to share some of this beauty with everyone e… Continue

Good Morning Dena! Glad you liked my site-and I hope you enjoyed poking around on it. If you know anyone else who is into Appalachian Heritage-please send them my way.

I checked out some of your photos-very nice. My camera isn't anything special-its a Fujifilm S3000. I hope to upgrade sometime-what do you use?

Have a great day!

Good evening, Dena.

I found it at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=plZigHwqhnQ

I don't have enough bandwidth to watch it, as you know. Ask Courtnie if she would like me to link to it from her Murphy Gold page.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Good morning, Dena.

So, for folks who have broadband, what's the URL of Courtnie's YouTube account? How can they see the slideshow?

Good morning, Dena.

How was your trip to SC? Did you have a good time?

Good evening, Dena.

Ann Woodford is being humble. She has worked very hard to help people in western North Carolina. In addition to her outstanding work with One Dozen Who Care, she has also served on the board of the Center for Participatory Change in Asheville. (http://cpcwnc.org/)

CPC was fundamental in helping us organize and start the Appalachian Heritage Crafters co-op in Murphy and I served on the CPC board for several years and on the committee that oversaw the grants given by their Self Development Fund.

Ann has always been a very helpful, thoughtful, and caring participant in all she did. I really miss talking to her on a regular basis.

All the best,

JD

D - Glad you better, your mom kept me updated. Will check in when I'm closer. Chris and kids had prior obligations but the couple we had dinner with in Hoboken are coming. They have been wanting to see the mountains in her fall splendor. Will be great to see you and family!
