It's unfortunate that one market has such an impact on our community. But, with a lot of people employed in construction in one way or another, and our main market being from FL where it's been hit so hard, we're really feeling the effects. But, it could be worse! Am thankful to be working with a great company and a great owner whose main focus is professionalism and the success of her agents.

Good evening, Carol.

I hope you're right about the real estate market in Murphy picking up next year. As you know, it's a major part of the engine that drives the local economy.

I'm with you. I wish I had the money to invest, too.

All the best,

JD

Real estate has been going up-and-down this past summer. We're still seeing some activity, and expect to until January when it typically slows down until May. I am excited for next summer as I do believe the market will pick up and be better then this past summer. As you may know, there hasn't been a better time to buy property than now. I've sold some properties at unbelievable prices...wish I had the money to invest myself! Our market continues to be stronger than many other markets. We're still in a buyer's market and will continue to be there probably until 2011 where it'll start to level out and return to a seller's market. There are many resources and search tools on my website for anyone wanting to watch the market, get to know the area, as well as other tools. You can go to www.mtnpropertiesbycarol.com.

Now that we're passing through fall and heading into winter. What's the real estate market like in Murphy? Anyone have any projections on how it will shape up next spring?

Now is definitely a great time! Interest rates are low. Prices are low. You do not have to buy at the bottom to make a great investment, You must secure the investment or it might always be a fish tale of what could have been. "That river lot on the Hiawassee River that was reduced to 69 k that got bought out from under you as you waited for prices to come down more. Let 10 years go by and see if $5000 (now) would make a difference of whether or not you would still be happy to have it in your investment portfolio. I can answer that for you: NO. If it is worth tons more it will not matter. You can see these type of deals at kellyhopkins.com.

Good morning.

Who thinks the real estate market in Murphy is picking back up? Who thinks it's going to take some more time?

I ask this question because I heard a couple of real estate agents talking to Mayor Hughes a few days ago and they said the market is starting to recover.

That would be good news, because the real estate market is a huge part of the local economy.

All the best,

JD

Are you interested in buying and selling real estate in Murphy?

If your answer is yes, then this is a group for you.

Real estate brokers and agents, investors, and consumers looking to buy or sell their homes can come together and share information about the real estate market in the Murphy area.

i think this will be a rather active group, eventually.
