As much as I like the Fourth of July, I believe that Thanksgiving Day is my favorite holiday.
I love getting together with family and friends and sharing the things for which we are grateful. Even in these rough economic times, we have a lot to be thankful for and I think that it's wonderful to have a day set aside to remember and celebrate these things.
And, of course, there's the food! I love turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, and all the other traditional parts of the Thanksgiving meal.
I once had crab legs on Thanksgiving, and it just wasn't the same.
Of course, the best part is spending some time with family and special friends - at least for me.
David Brose emailed me and asked me to add the following to this thread...
Every year at Christmas I bring in a wonderful jazz guitarist from Atlanta. His name is Bob Shaw. I also bring in female vocalist Jan Metzger, jazz bassist LA Tuten and drummer Omar (?). They do jazz Christmas (jazz versions of Christmas favorites). It's free and it's wonderful. This year it is on Thursday December 10. It is in Keith House of the Folk School and is at 7:00 PM. If you could post this on your Holiday page, it would possibly get word to people who would enjoy a fabulous free concert with a Holiday theme in this time of tight economy
